After testing a new extended battery with the stock battery with 3G, 4G and wifi, the one thing that stands out on average is my battery life = wifi > 4G > 3G.
With the Razr in the same areas for over eight months, 3G and wifi were similar and 4G was a WAY distant third. I notice with the GS3 in the area I live, my battery life using 3G is not as good as 4G in Lexington KY (where I work). Even if a weaker 4G signal, battery life seems better than areas at home using 3G.
At some areas where I live, I get strong dBm, but weak results in a lot of places. The results contradict the dBm, but there are also areas where the signal is medium level and download & Speedtest results correlate. On average, the battery life though is less than in 4G areas tested. To me at least, this is conclusive that the GS3 has weaker overall 3G than the Razr. The results stand out too much to not be the case.
Call reception is the same as Razr (great), so still luv the GS3 bunches, but the 4G battery life seems to reflect well on the GS3, but not for 3G. For me, at least.
I have had two GS3's and both with different kernels, but same results noted above....... Do I need to reduce my beer intake

Added:
Lexington has better 3G signal performance than my home areas, so I will test to see if a better 3G signal results in different battery life results compared to 4G- I would of course expect 3G to be a lot better than 4G.
