VZW update

just got an update notice. I am stuck using my Note 7 until my back ordered Pixel XL 128 shows up. Have not let the update run but am worried it will go on it's own soon. Is there a way to prevent the update?

Hoping new phone shows up Friday or Monday.

Sounds as though you are getting the new Verizon update... N930VVRS2APK1 which limits charging to 60%.

Hopefully, you intend returning it soon but in the meantime you could select to update only over Wi-Fi and then turn off your phone's Wi-Fi.

For more information on this update, see Verizon's...
Samsung Galaxy Note7 Software Update

being a VZW customer, and having met the 'update issue' before with my S5, after I refused the update about 3 times, they pushed it thru anyway, in spite of me saying "NO".

My wife's S5 is still on 4.4.4, but she never uses the internet for anything.
I have a macro running on her phone that always keeps DATA and WiFi turned off.
so far, after 2 years, that has been successful in keeping 5.1 from ever installing.

on my S5, once 5.1 was pushed on against my wishes, I just said 'to hell with it' and let 6.x install when it came along. surprisingly for me, I enjoyed 6.x much better than 5.1 and there are some features in 6.x that I miss with my Note 4 which is rooted and still on 4.4.4

it is a mixed bag, staying in the dark ages.... or, going with the crowd....
seems we can't always have our cake and eat it too.

I would like to have 6.x on the Note 4 but with it rooted so that my Macros can control DATA. I always keep DATA and WiFi turned off because it improves battery life immensely.

I'm on Verizon with my Note 7. So far my disabling of the Samsung OTA push components is apparently working.

I updated my Note 7 with verizon and I want to uninstall the system update! How can I do it on my own ?
If it's a Verizon version Samsung, you very likely can't, as they're quite unrootable. As they've neutered it with the update, Samsung and Verizon wants to make sure it stays that way.

Yes,
pretty much like Mike says. Verizon has been noted for several years as hard to root. Not impossible, but damned hard to do.
I don't recall a way to do it having been made for Marshmallow yet, but 5.1 has been done on some phones like the S5.

I'm sure the Verizon version Galaxy S7(Snapdragon processsor) with Marshmallow 6.0 is impossible to root so far. That's from reading posts in the AF S7 ATR forum. And I'm pretty sure there's going to no one working on a phone that's discontinued, end-of-life and recalled. So basically if it took the OTA update, you're SOL.

I still have not done the update(nor has my co-worker) and we have been getting update reminders for about 3 weeks... we have to live with the update icon in the info bar at the top and just hit the arrow button and back out of it! No forced update so far doing it this way. :D:cool:
