Waiting on new sprint phone

Nevikan

Newbie
I read that a new phone may come out in February but now I have read that they only release phones during the summer. Which is correct?
Second, when is the CES 2011? Would this be the best option to decide whether to buy now or wait a little longer?
Thanks for all your help.

Sprint *generally* releases phones in the summer. That doesn't mean they won't make an announcement in February, or even at CES this week. It's just not their regular pattern to do so. Nobody really knows when they will make an announcement.

My guess (and it's only a guess) is that it will wait for summer.

Mobile World is usually in Feb. That's probably when Sprint will announce any new phones...or at least HPalm's new devices for Sprint.

Good point. There are Sprint announcments and there are manufacturers' announcements.

They have a new phone coming out soon. Which is the Evo shift. They don't "only" release in Summer but yes like PP poster they generally do have a big phone release around that time. Evo last yr and Pre the year before.

Without knowing what you want or are looking for in a phone I can't rly make a judgement on whether to buy now or wait.

CES is going on now so you could wait to see if they mention anything. Unfortunately I doubt they will.

Sprint kinda getting rolled over as of lately. Depending on if you like the Evo form factor or not but its pretty much rolled over with the two announcements from Att and Verizon. T-Mo goin on now so idky about them.

It could be like years past and they do the same thing with March ish having an announcement and early June releasing a big phone that is awesome. Last year with Evo it was a spec machine and fairly close to being the best. This year I doubt they can surpass the other big guys. However they might bring us close or match them.

Thanks for the reply.
I am stuck between the EVO and the Epic. I am not impressed with the Shift so I was waiting on the EVO 2 or new Epic or galaxy phone. I thought the Nexus S might come over but I did not like not having a sd slot.
Basically I would like to have the screen size of the EVO and the amoled screen of the Epic.

Sprint should offer a service to let you customize your own phone. :)

I really wish they would release some info about new phones. I have my upgrade ready and almost got the Evo last week, but used the money for something else instead. I hate to buy the Evo even though it's a solid phone, just to find out about all these new phones coming a day later.

I know. I would hate for that to happen but then again I would also hate to chase that (there is one better just around the corner) rabbit. I just don’t want to buy a phone every year. That is why I am trying to get the next generation instead of buying late into the current one.
