Wake up screen while on silent

I have the Galaxy s5 running Lollipop. I created a task to wake the screen when I get a notification from Hangouts but it only works when my phone is on sound and vibrate but not when on mute (which is what I want it to do). I'm guessing that since Lollipop got rid of silent mode and Samsung kept it in their software, it is stopping Tasker from reading them so it's not working correctly. Any ideas?

Here is the Tasker info I'm currently using:
Profile: hangouts with event > UI > notification.
Task: plugin > secure settings > wake device > screen & keyboard lights on with 3 second duration

Maybe AutoNotification can intercept silent notifications. I don't have any lollipop devices so I can't test myself.
