Want an Android

I'm going to pick up an iPhone 4 about a month after it comes out, but I'd also like to get the best of both worlds and also pick up one of the high end Android phones. This is going to be my first Android and I am really unsure what to pick. From what I heard, there appears to be three different "flavors" of Android - Motoblur, regular Android and HTC Sense. I'm really unsure as to which is the best of the 3.

The Androids which I like the sound of are the HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid and Google Nexus One. Which of these is the best in terms of upgrade-ability, features, etc? I'm leaning towards the N1 at the moment, but not sure.

N1 is Google's own phone, so it gets all the updates first. It's a good phone, too, on par with the HTC Desire. The different flavours are just the manufacturer specific 'skin' they put over the default Android interface to give their phones a distinction from the other Android phones. The N1 has the default, HTC has the Sense UI, Motorola has Motoblur, etc.

The EVO is probably the most powerful Android phone out right now, but give it a month or so, and there are some rumoured phones that might be out by then which dwarf the EVO in specs.

Thanks for the response.

So what in your opinion is the best skin? Sense, default or Motoblur?

And out of the N1, EVO 4G, Incredible, Droid, etc, which is the best?

Asking someone what skin is the best is like asking what color is the best, personal opinion.

As far as the phones, each one has it's own advantage and you really can't just ask what phone is the best, they are all in the same league as of right now:
N1-Top of the line hardware with vanilla android.
EVO-Top of the line hardware with larger screen and 4G option (in some areas), running sense.
Incredible-Similar to the N1 but running sense.
Droid-Best android phone with a keyboard, running vanilla android (personally I would wait until verizon releases the next versions of droid which is like next week I believe).

Your best bet is to go to the store and try out all of the phones (except for the N1, although there are rumors that it is coming to tmobile store).
