Root Want ICS now? Here ya go!

Just used this method and worked like a charm. Its not sideloading persay, but this worked. Using my ICS Raqzr now and loving it. Had the Nexus and was missing it.

Moved this to the root section. While not directly root related, this is not something the average unrooted user should be attempting.

This seems to be hit-or-miss, I just tried it and followed the instructions to the letter, on a fresh install of .173 rooted and voodooed (is that even a word???)
It went part way through the flashing process, the andy icon changed from having an arrow coming out of a box to a triangle above him with an exclamation point and then rebooted into .173.
StOoPiD MuNkYz..... messing up my phone from the inside out...lol (I might be the stoopid munky, now that I think about it....)

Been using it for hours. After I installed, did a factory reset and boy is this thing fast. Love it! Had the nexus for nearly the months and this is far better.

Funny, I've attempted this several times now. Download a fresh copy of the two files, place them on the SD card, move them to the root of the SD card (internal) and it still will only go part way through the flash and then abort.
Did I miss something here?
I have ES and I believe all the correct check boxes are set
I have ota rootkeeper
I am rooted
I have ROM manager, and it does not have CWM installed
I also have razr bootstrapper, does this interfere?

The instructions say do not have a custom recovery installed, ie bootstrap, or safestrap, if you want this to work.

Im not confirming this as ive yet to try myself but just pointing out the possible cause.

First, you put both files in the root of the phone, not SD card. In the cache folder. No bootstrap either and make sure your on stock.

Is anyone having any issues with this once it's installed? Sounds like everything works, just wanna be sure. Also, does Matt's tool work to flash back to stock if there are any bugs I can't deal with?

That's where I've been putting the files, I even tried putting them on the root of the SD ext to no avail. I must be missing some step and can't seen to find it.
funny, I used to help out on the DroidX forum with these kind of questions, good thing I was nice about it most of the time...lol
Hows this? I go into my root/cache should there be any directories (folders) in it such as: lost+found and recovery?

Doh.... I feel stupid now, uninstalling razr bootstrap now, will make another attempt at flashing afterward. This may be the trick.
Failed again. I might just have to fastboot this sucker again just to get a clean install or something. seriously, this kinda blows....

Got ics installed...didn't wipe or flash to 744, just put the 2 files in cache, ran with rom manager, and used voodoo to restore root...this is awesome!!!

Signal is definitely better even if the bars don't show it...works perfectly...just had to clear data in camera for it to work...other than that no issues besides my old texts looking weird. New ones are fine

There apparently isn't any tangible risk, unless you don't follow the instructions or have something weird going on.
Here's what I found out:
I was having difficulties getting the file to flash, it would get through about 30% and show an error, then reboot as normal...back to .173.
I knew i could not have safestrap or bootstrap installed, so i had removed them....or so i thought. apparently, there are files or parts of files which remain behind and WILL mess up the install on this leak.
had to use RSD to get back to a fresh install and voila! It worked! Thanks again to Kelmar for helping in that process.
The only issue I am having ir I lost root, but at this point, I really don't miss it much. Until another ROM or such comes out, I really don't need it

little late but figure ill say it here since this is the way i flashed ICS... im not getting 4g, anywhere. its under LTE/CDMA... turned data on and off, rebooted... nothing. no 4g, only 3g.

any suggestions?? tnx~~!

Not sure what to say, mine has been working very well. only problems i have encountered have been a few random reboots and apparently, partial root. titanium has root, but adfree and rom manager do not
