Want to setup FTP server on Mac 10.6 using Airport Express?

I have a rough idea about FTPing. I enabled it on the sharing settings on my imac and the IP address it gives does not work. I believe this is because I am running threw a router setup on DHCP (airport express). Does anyone know exactly what settings to change on the router to give it a static IP? I believe this is my problem but perhaps not. I don't have a static IP package from my ISP thou.

Do you want your FTP server to be accesible from outside of your home network, or just accesible from within your house? If you want it accesible from outside your home network, you'll need to enable port forwarding on your router, to the Mac which is running the FTP server. Don't know if this can be done with an Apple AirPort. Also check the firewall on the FTP server Mac is not blocking incoming packets on port 21.

You should also note that many ISPs actively block incoming packets on common server ports. Most ISPs prohibit the running of servers in their TOS agreements.
