I'm hoping someone can give me some insight to my situation...
So I plugged in my Galaxy Nexus the other day and it wouldn't start charging. Unplugged both ends of charger and tried again, this time the micro usb got hot and smelled like burning plastic. Tried another cable and same thing, the male end of the cable actually looks slightly melted.
I called Verizon and told them my phone wouldnt charge and they are sending a replacement.
The problem is in my tinkering nature I took a spudger wrapped with a microfiber cloth and cleaned out the micro usb. Using a third cable the phone now intermittently charges, if the cable is just right (it also doesn't melt which is probably a good thing since verizon would probably try to blame me for physically damaging the port or getting water in it).
So I was wondering if verizon gets it back and it decides to charge for them are they going to charge me because they'll think I just wanted a new phone?
Thanks!
