Water damaged HTC One X

SammiHTC

Lurker
I got a HTC One X 3 days ago but now it's water damaged and the screen is black but I think it's responsive to touch. I want to get the pictures off it onto my computer but when I connect the USB lead it says "Please insert a disk". Is there any way that I can get the pictures onto my computer?

When did the water damage occur? If it was recently, you should keep it in a bag of uncooked rice or silica gel packets for 3-4 days until it dries out. Turning a water damaged device on while it's still wet is the absolute worst thing you can do.

It happened yesterday but I've been trying to turn it on. The screen came on a few times before but only for a few seconds at a time but now it won't come on at all

I would take the battery out the back and the back off the phone, and put all three in separate bags of rice/silica gel if you have them. If not, just try and keep the three slightly apart if you can. Don't try to turn it on again for about three days, after which most of the moisture should have gone. If you can see any behind the screen, it needs longer.

Everything is internal in the phone so there's no way of taking it apart or getting the battery out. I've put it in a bag of rice and I'll leave it a few days. Thanks for your help :)

Ahh yes, I knew that but I somehow forgot :p

That should help anyway. No probs :)

Sorry to hear that... I hope the method suggested will somehow work for you.

Your best bet is to try keeping the device as warm as possible. It's a pity that the battery cannot be removed. It would make things a lot easier.

I will assume that you have insurance, so if things don't work out well, you will just have to pay the deductible and not the full price for the device.

Best of luck. (^ム^)
