Hello the speaker grill doesn't affect the waterproof but it's bad for the dust. The another hole is the water captors

This has happened to me a couple of times over the last few months. Fortunately the CAT Support team (i'm in the UK) seem well aware of this situation. They were very quick to send two replacements to me (on two separate occasions) to stick back on. like yourself I am dubious about the integrity of the "waterproofness" now and think this could be the reason why my phone has suffered further. I would contact CAT support and request a replacement and while you're at it, get them to confirm that the phone is still waterproof.

Best.

I am not sure but it looks like you have lost just a mesh that does not seem to stop water. Could you, please, add a photo with waterproof switch turned to 5 m? I believe you can put instead of original part any mesh that is quite dense - this was rather to stop dust than water - but I might be wrong. Nevertheless, any mash is better then nothing in this place.

The same happened to me. Unfortunately the CAT support program in Italy does not ship spare parts. So I need to send the phone in warranty and wait for the fix. Too much time consuming for a working phone. Anyone of You can provide me the spare part? I can pay for the service.

Hello, I've got the same exact issue. One day I found that the plastic speaker grill is gone and there is only soft glue residue left. I contacted their customer support, and they refused to send me the parts, due to their "changed policy" They also said that the phone is no longer water proof because of this. So there seems to be a conflicting information, as some others here have said that this mesh ir only for dust protection. Can anyone elaborate more on this matter?
This is so frustrating. Especially when they market this phone as "rugged"! What a joke. Additionally, first thing to go after 3 months of use was plastic charging port cover.

Hi Oswald, I think this little adesive microphone cover will not reduce the water resistance of the phone. But I won't try it.
I will not buy CAT anymore in my life neither for shoes or if I need a real caterpillar.

Ps: I think you can find a replacement for the charge cover coming with Your phone, I have one.

Hello,
I'm in South America, (Chile) and unfortunately I can't find a Caterpillar dealer or support here... I have the same problem with the speaker cover, and I wonder if I take it off the waterproofing or dustproofing system will be affected...
Toby Holloway, can you give me a hand please?

Thanks everyone for support

I have talked to UK customer service, they said that it affects phones waterproofing. But this indormation contradicts otrher users here saying they have been told the exact oppostite. Common sense wiuld auggest that this cover is not essential in wayer proof ness, only maybe dust can accumulate in there more.

I see... I wonder if I take off the thin fabric below the mesh will affect... I'm tired of this.

No it not affect a all the waterprofing. Its just protect the speaker from dirt in dust but if you flip the switch to 5 m it protect the speaker anyway.

Pls i need help i had the same problem and i am living in Lebanon
So from where can i buy a part for that ?

I suspect a part like this as it's unique to the S60 can only be obtained from the manufacturer, CAT, or one of their authorised service centres. Could try looking at Ebay or something, maybe a vendor is brokering these phones for spares?

In Australia I've been advised to see Harvey Norman who can send my phone back for service at my cost. No mesh can be sent to me. I can't buy it anywhere. It's been weeks of frustration and calling for me, I'm back to the Samsung Galaxy in lifeproof case and may get a separate FLIR camera or keep the S60 for that as noone would buy my second hand S60 with the missing mesh.... Frustrating!!!
