Way around 100-contact limit in phone book?

Hi - I'm thinking of getting this phone, but I noticed in the specs that there is room in the phone book for 100 contacts. I have way more than that!

Are there apps available for larger, more powerful phone books? Would a higher capacity SD card make a difference? Or is it a hardware limitation that there's no way around?

Thanks for any tips. I'm new to Android, in fact new to any kind of smartphone.

Do you have a Google account ready to sync with the Thrive? If you have set up your contacts & calendar in Gmail online, after you get the phone, you'll be prompted to "sign in" and sync with your Google account (Settings>Accounts & sync). The phone will then pull down all of your Gmail contacts & your Google calendar.

Although the phone is capable of being used without syncing with Google, it is limited, as you've noted, with only 100 contacts available, and probably similar limitations with the calendar.

If you sync with Google, though, not only will all of your data be backed up in the Google "cloud" online, but you're virtually unlimited in the # of contacts you can add (I believe problems only start occurring after about 9000 contacts).

Remember that syncing uses data, though, so if you don't have an unlimited plan, consider syncing over wifi whenever you can..

I have about 200 (Google synced) contacts, no problem. One caveat; when you go to create a new contact on the phone, for some reason it defaults to the "phone" type, instead of the synced-Google type. You have to manually change it. If you don't want to sync with Google, your other choice is to store your contacts on your SIM card.
