WARNING :confused:
I can't stress this enough,
DO NOT do this if you don't know what you're doing!
DO NOT do this if you don't know what you're doing!
DO NOT do this if you don't know what you're doing!
WARNING :eek:

So, it's public.
At this moment still no confirm on un-rooting so be carefull!!!
And still no custom rom yet.
But now we're in the game and we might se 2.2 soon?

The exploit can be found here:
Root for X10 mini | android.doshaska.net

And the support thread here:
Exploid - root for X10 mini - xda-developers

Yes, Worked just fine with my mini.

Got rid of some unusable apps, and are just waiting for Froyo :)

Edit: If you should regret deleting apps, or other files. You can download them from here Balsat Android and kernels for HTC diamond, Raphael, Blackstone, Rhodium and Topaz

PS. If you delete Talk.app, and/or gtalkservice.apk, you will probably not be able to download files and updates from marked. And if you are living outside the US, marked enabler is a nice feature..

Damn - Thanks Dude - This Is Great - Provides hope because now at least there is some development in further customizing the phone :D Thanks for putting it up -

Well, I managed to get my phone rooted, and now I'm going to try see if I can get any generic ROM's installed.. it's going quite well so far.

@Harreem
I would wait with that custom rom if I was you....
You can't just pick a rom and put in on....

From Bin4ry:
"Same progress must be done like on X10. So please be patient. First i (or somebody else who is faster) must fix X10flash, so that we are able to flash everytime to a desired version of rom. Then SPL must be hacked. We can try to port softspl from goroh. but first other progress must be made."

see more here :
Any developers willing to build a X10 Mini/Mini Pro Android 2.1 custom ROM? - xda-developers

At the moment the best we can get with root that we now have is to install/remove software more easy.

Also see here for a list of "safe" apps to remove without causing trouble.
TuT| Removing Apps from X10Mini/Pro + 'Safe List' - xda-developers

Hm, not sure why it fails (I've not tried yet, too busy flashing other hardware hehe)
But I see they mention that you might need another hack based on what firmware version you've got.

See here for more info : XPERIA X10 Mini Android Development - xda-developers

And in special the thread by "Bin4ry" - mind you, this is an older hack : Root for E10i - xda-developers

Thanks for the info dude :D - Judging by your second post and looking at how there are still a few limitations in terms of what all can be achieved after the phone has been rooted i guess i am going to wait for a while and let further progress take place and then proceed with it -

@badassballer
yes, it's still very early in this process.
I think I'll give SE time to give me the Q3 update and see if that fixes my bugs, and if not then I might try to root it but only if I can confirm that my bugs are sorted.

I have a few projects coming up so I don't have the time but if I can find some hours left I'll dig into this whole android/rooting/custom-rom thing :)

I guess the place to be at the moment would be the xda forum :)
But I sure hope that this forum as well could create a community around this phone.

@MiniDroid

Yeah, I agree. I can't be bothered trying to get a random ROM on :) I'll wait for a custom one to be released.

Yea these forums have been really good - and hopefully like you said the forums here would be able to create an even bigger community around this phone - It is definitely worth it - i mean compared to a lot of other android based devices, this one has been relatively much better comparatively - Once things move along more and progress is made in terms of cooked roms etc and flashing etc for this phone - things might just pick up even more on here as well -

I have a few programming projects coming up for the next year.
I'll try to put android into the mix and see what happens ;)

Any other coders out here?
