Root We Need to Disable The UICC

saiyaneye

Lurker
As we know, we cannot get a UICC for MetroPCS very easily now, they are pricy (just considering what they are) around $25 right now.

I have installed the Basix ROM and the electricsheep-10-newsu-signed Kernel as well.

I want someone to maybe guide me in the correct direction to disable the UICC. I read somewhere after searching on Google that we can possible edit the "build.prop" file in the system directory. I tried disabling something in the build.prop and it was a no go.

I changed

keyguard.no_require_sim=true
to
keyguard.no_require_sim=false

No luck with this.

I am trying to flash this to Page Plus. I disabled RUIM in CDMA Workshop and put in a random SIM and no luck. I still get "Please insert a valid SIM" or with no SIM "Please insert a MetroPCS SIM" or something close to that.

I like to learn, I don't know if I need to try and learn how to compile a custom kernel for this? Or perhaps a new radio image? Can someone steer me in the right direction on some literature for development/tutorials/good reads on doing anything like this?

I know people are going to say flashing is ill3g@l??? But there was a big petition 120k signatures or so and I thought this was basically repealed, making this legal again. <----

Even if you still feel that it is ill3g@l, disabling the UICC SIM would not be right? Just by disabling the UICC would not mean the I or others will be doing this to flash the device.
