Weak External Speaker

Is it me or does this phone have a weak external speaker? Hard to hear callers and sometimes hard to hear movie playback. My previous phone, EVO, had a decent external speaker.
 
I think it has more to do with the placement of the speaker. It's not horrible, but, it's far from the best.
 
u talking about the earpiece speaker or the speaker on the back of the phone? i thought i was reading reviews that the speaker on the back of the phone had pretty solid quality and volume.
 
I can hear the sound pretty clearly even when I'm taking a shower and the phone is on the counter. Definitely better than the Nexus S.
 
Yeah it snap, crackle, and pops. If anyone wants to test it out call your local Best Buys store using the speakerphone near max volume. The greeting and the music ( while on hold for the next operator) will distort your loudspeaker.
 
The ET speaker is definitely louder than my Evo and not as distorted. Not majorly louder, but definitely not quieter.
 
the speaker is very clear and loud (depends on your "kbps" per song for music) ... i love the fact that when u cover it with ur finger .. its almost mute !!! haha ... but im coming from a EVO and EPIC 4g ... better then both their speakers (period)
 
No problem with the speaker for me. It's way louder than my EVO3D was. Almost too loud. When I connect my bluetooth and listen to ESPN its loud too.

Texts and email alerts are louder than my EVO3D as well.
 
Its loud but it definitely distorts. The Photon have a better speaker. I can't remember my Evo having this bad distortion either.

As I have posted earlier just give your local Best Buys a call and listen to their recording if you want to know.
 
I'm having the same problem with the speaker.
Interestingly, when I plug-in headphones, everything is loud and clear through the ear pieces.
Unplugging them, the external speaker volume goes back to almost no sound.
 
Maybe its my particular unit, but I found the speaker to be very good, I mean I can hear it from another room, a lot f phones when places on their backs it muffles the sound, not this phone, at least my unit. I thought it was very rich, sounded very good, much better then the evo 3d, I mean I heard my alarm this morning with no problem and its in another room with the door closed so thats been my experience.
