Help Weak GPS performance

I've come to realize that GPS performance on the G2 is pretty unreliable. I just did a trip along I95 and didn't get one lock on a GPS satellite.

That said, I get somewhat consistent locks in and around the NYC area.

None of the GPS status or test apps seem to be productive, so I wonder where I go from here. Anyone experience similar issues?

I've had gps lock issues, it happens all the time to me. I've found a few work arounds. Turn your gps on about ten min before you start driving, and uninstall updates on Google maps to bring it back to the one you had prior to update. It seems to lock faster for me. I also have to keep the phone next to the window, either in my hand or up in a car mount.

I did a 4 hour trip to Orlando last week and the GPS worked wonderfully all the way. It seems to be that some of the units have problems.
