Wearable device : transmit sensor data

Hello experts,

I have a question regarding a wearable device.

I am working on a school project and want to use smart watch as a game controller.

Is it possible to install an app on the wearable device that can connect to another device ( say my mobile device) over bluetooth and send sensor data ( accelerometer, gyroscope) ?

Also, can someone suggest a good wearable platform / device that can be used for such prototyping work?

Yes. You could do it with a cheap watch if you have the time. Nothing like James Bond with his car though.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a hardware platform that people use for wearable development or it has to be a watch ??
I suppose an Emulator is not an option here because emulators don't work good when it comes to apps with accelerometer/ gyroscope data...

Well we had PDAs, Palm pilots, PocketPCs and micro-computers before the smartphone.
I know there is a ring too. A ring to monitor your body. Ain't it Grand. What a wonderful day.
