I have searched and searched for an answer to this question, and I'm beginning to assume that there is not one... yet. That realization would be most disappointing for me.
Here's my problem:
I need to stream audio from a web client provided by "Stretch Internet" in my phone's background while using another app. Specifically, I am trying to listen to baseball broadcasts on the web and score the games at the same time using ESPN iScore Baseball for Android. My ESPN app is rendered useless if I can't listen to the game while I'm scoring it. Some of the streams I am accessing are live, others are on demand. Unfortunately, any time I switch apps, return to the home screen, or lock the phone, the audio stream I am using pauses.
Here are some possible solutions I have already tried:
I installed and tried Skyfire and Dolphin HD because they have the capability of "minimizing" windows, however neither of them continued to play the stream after minimizing.
Here is a possible solution I have not tried:
I don't know the stream's specific address and I don't know how to access that information from my phone's browser (I could probably get it from my laptop but I shouldn't have to...), but I have yet to try using a streaming audio app to load the stream.
It's just a little bit irritating that other widely used apps, such as Pandora, AudioGalaxy, and even the standard Media Player support background play features, yet the native web browser for my android OS does not. This needs to be addressed in future releases of the OS, as I have found multiple forum posts from other users with very similar questions.
I'm using a myTouch 4G, OS 2.2.1
Thanks in advance!
