Web Browser - Streaming Audio in Background?

Lurker
I have searched and searched for an answer to this question, and I'm beginning to assume that there is not one... yet. That realization would be most disappointing for me.

Here's my problem:

I need to stream audio from a web client provided by "Stretch Internet" in my phone's background while using another app. Specifically, I am trying to listen to baseball broadcasts on the web and score the games at the same time using ESPN iScore Baseball for Android. My ESPN app is rendered useless if I can't listen to the game while I'm scoring it. Some of the streams I am accessing are live, others are on demand. Unfortunately, any time I switch apps, return to the home screen, or lock the phone, the audio stream I am using pauses.

Here are some possible solutions I have already tried:
I installed and tried Skyfire and Dolphin HD because they have the capability of "minimizing" windows, however neither of them continued to play the stream after minimizing.

Here is a possible solution I have not tried:
I don't know the stream's specific address and I don't know how to access that information from my phone's browser (I could probably get it from my laptop but I shouldn't have to...), but I have yet to try using a streaming audio app to load the stream.

It's just a little bit irritating that other widely used apps, such as Pandora, AudioGalaxy, and even the standard Media Player support background play features, yet the native web browser for my android OS does not. This needs to be addressed in future releases of the OS, as I have found multiple forum posts from other users with very similar questions.

I'm using a myTouch 4G, OS 2.2.1

Thanks in advance!

I have had this same issue. It seems odd that such a simple functionality is so hard to get. I'm not that tech savvy so, I wasn't sure if there was a simple fix that I just didn't know about, but, it sounds like it's not really possible, which is a shame. I like to listen to some sports talk radio on the train in the morning, but, I can't do so while also checking email and such.

Has anyone found a way to make this work. I would love to listen to the readio without the screen on. It just kills the battery.

I found this post trying to find the same solution, anyone?
Its anoying to play a stream music or video and try to browse in another window listening to the audio. It doesnt work! Stops to play !?

This is crappy!!!

Having the same problem, its really annoying since i like to listen, then someone on the show mentions something i want to check, but can't google it without interrupting the audio...

My spotify (music app) works all the time, in background, streaming music so it must be a solution somewhere..?

Does the dolphin browser what i want?
