Weird "1" icon near the contacts

I have a wired blue "1" icon
It appears in a few places - near the contacts , in the messages .. only in built in applications
I've tried to Google it and didn't find any results

Those are called "badges" (yeah, I know ... we don't need no steeeenkin' badges ;) ).

They indicate the quantity of ... something. For the dialer it is probably missed calls. For messages isn't unread texts. etc. It's most likely part of your default launcher.

Look at the picture , it is not a regular badge.. it's something wired that I haven't seen before and also appears in the recent calls of a specific caller
Looks like kinda bug or something
 
Are they always the "number 1" or does it vary? Honestly it looks like a badge indicating you placed one call to that contact.
 
Oh oh oh oooohhhhhhh! that looks like a sim card. Do you have the international version that supports 2 sims? That's probably telling you which sim was used to place the call ... or if a default sim is set for each contact.

Stoopid me for fixing the thread title and not reading the thread. :oops: @lunatic59 is exactly right. This is indicating which sim you are using to make calls or text, or in the case of the screenshot you showed, which sim you were called on.
 
Don't know about the S8, but I have a Chinese phone with dual sims running LineageOS and I have the badge, too, so I would guess its there on all multiple sim devices.

I looked through my settings and didn't see anywhere to turn that off.
