Help weird icon

hi just yesterday this weird icon appeared beside my wifi. was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is? as a new user i cant post an image but it looks like a dog tag with wifi signal in the left hand corner of it. ive tried turning both wifi and 3g of and still stays there

It's to let you know NFC is active. Hit Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> More. Is there a tick next to NFC?
