Weird location message keeps coming

Hello, new HTC Desire user here
Gawd, I love this phone..!

I just got the phone today, and I noticed that once in a while, I get a "message", it says SMS, that has the name of the GSM tower I'm connected to, it seems. It would for example say, LONDON (E) in the message. Any ideas what this is, and how to stop it?
Could it be Google Lattitude doing something weird?

The weird location SMS's keep coming, telling me which tower I'm near..
Driving me nuts.. Any ideas what to do?

Contact your carrier and ask whats up. This is something I've never seen in the states.
