Weird noises

My galaxy s5 has started to make buzzing popping sounds around midnight. The screen dose not light up when this happens. It continues for so long i have to turn the power off. HELP PLEASE

Yes. Only around midnight. But not always on the charger

Best thing to do is for you to do some testing. Try and pin point the exact time it goes off and whether it is exactly the same time each day. Keep the test consistent IE either on charge each time or not.

How long does it go on for, does it ever stop, if you mute the phone does the sound continue?

Check your alarm settings to see if something is set, it could be that a sound file is corrupt and causing some sort of looping error on the phone.

I had 2 quiet njghts then last night at around 2am with the phone not connected to the charger and on mute, cccrrrkkk cccrrrkkk cccrrrkkk until I powered off. It's quite loud enough to wake my wife and i. Hhheeeelĺlllppppp

Nothing lights up the screen as in notifications recieved. There are no alarms set. The sound is the same but the last time the rythm was different The first time it happened it was on charge and when i unplugged it it stopped. The next time it happened it was on charge and i unplugged it then muted it and had to power off to stop the noise. The next couple of times it wasn't on charge. I have always put my phone on charge at night in the past.

Wouldn't that light up the screen

I would think so, but since it's been so regular, there may be an app or setting that's preventing it. You could try booting into safe mode and leaving it on overnight that way to see if it recurs.

I put it in safe mode but around 1.30 am the noises started. There is about a 20 to 30 seconds between the noises.

I'd definitely get rid of it

If the noises continue in safe mode, then yeah, it's probably a defect. It 'might' be something that's corrupted in the system so flashing the original firmware could stop it, but there are no guarantees. It up to you how long you want to try and hang on to a (failing?) phone.
