Help Weird problem with htc desire 500

Hey guys! A friend of mine has a problem with her htc desire 500. Yesterday her phone turned off and won't turn on. She changed the battery but nothing happend. She tried to reset it with the volume down key + power button - nothing happend. PC doesn't recognise it, when connected. The light when charging blinks all the time but the battery doesn't charge. It doesn't respond at all. Have you got any ideas what can she do or what may cause this problem? Thanks! :)
 
Blinking means that the battery is below the charging level - meaning a serious hardware fault on the phone or the battery is shot or defective.

Changed the battery means...? Got a new one?

Was it dropped prior to developing the fault?
 
Yes, she got new one, charged it, but same blinking happens. She dropped it once maybe more than 6 months ago. Since then the problem occured ...yesterday.
 
If it's a matching battery from a reputable seller then it's likely that her phone is just broken.

Or - what about a different cable or charger?

If the cable is shorted or the charger has gone south and isn't within the voltage spec, that would cause it as well.

OK to try charging off of a pc usb port to test, definitely try another cable before that though.
 
Well, she tried charging with three different chargers already, changed cables, still same result. Also her battery was fine, it was a sudden turn off. She bought original htc battery just to see if the old one is the problem and tested it on other device - it turned on and there was no problem... Very strange.
