Weirdest issue EVER! Booting Loop.

Top this: Day one, got my new Pixel 2. Day two, got a case from the Verizon store; the Google brand fabric clam shell type. Put the case on and put the phone in my pocket. When I pulled the phone out, it was ..... rebooting? Maybe I hit the power button? Anyway, it was in a boot loop where it wouldn't do anything but keep trying to start. Removed the case. Still in the boot loop.

Called my Verizon guy on my friends phone and he said bring it back. I figured this had to be a hardware problem and the Google rep that was conveniently in the store agreed. We put the case on his phone just to make sure that it wasn't a case problem and his phone was fine. He also inspected the case and said it looked fine. Called Google support and they also agreed it must be hardware so we made the exchange.

Put the case on the 2nd new phone......... and you guessed it. Booting mode AGAIN!! WTH????? 2 Hours wasted and a new phone that was fine put to rest (or whatever they do with them). Took that case back to store and ordered a different one on Amazon.

Wow.

That is... weird.

Does it start straight away? Maybe the phone gets too hot, but no case should cause that unless the phone was working hard in the first place. Or is it related to location? Are you in a particularly weak signal area, for example? But it's ok without the case?

yep, as soon as the case went on my phone, but not on the other person's phone (the Google Rep). The case seemed plastic, but I could be wrong. I did buy another one of the same case because I dig the fabric back, and I've had zero problems.
