We were trying to use that online stuff to download mp3 from videos, but it was just too much of a pain. Then there's this app called TubeMate. It seems to work ok but asks too many permissions. Sure, there are only three, but does it really need phone call access and location? I tried denying those two, only to switch them on because it didn't work without them. Right now it's installed, with those two permissions not allowed. Who on here has any experience with TubeMate and/or could offer advice?

Drop Tubemate and use GetTube instead, does the same thing but is made by the developers at xda....

I haven't got Newpipe logged-in, and it doesn't immediately show anything that's connected to my googoo YT account, like saved playlists, subscriptions, and my uploaded videos. unless I go looking for them. I guess any views with Newpipe still count towards the number of view statistics though, just like if you were using a browser. It doesn't show any ads though, but then I haven't seen any ads in YT for a couple of years ago, probably because of my VPNs.
I mainly use Newpipe to download videos for classroom English lesson materials, so I can play them from a USB thumb-drive, as YT isn't available on the classroom PCs of course.
