Hi, I have searched around on Google leading me to various forums but what I have found is more a case of people guessing rather than definitive answers.

Hopefully somebody on here will be able to help please.

1) Secphone
2) Factory Mode
3) MapServiceSamsung
4) BroadcomMEMsService
5) Factory Test

1) the phone part of your phone
2) no idea
3) I dont think anyone knows for sure.
4) a-gps (broadcom make the gps chip)

Yes they will be running.

just some hard guessing

1 if this is right its phone security SECPHONE | Groupe SSI
2 believe its just factory settings
3 gps maping service believe this runs when u have gps on and or using the map
4 what the other guy said

I have just added another to the OP, that has appeared in my running apps:

All the android system apps (mms.apk, email.apk, phone.apk) that samsung modify specifically for touchwiz become prefixed "sec". So SecMMS apk, SecEmail.apk, SecPhone.apk become the standard functions of the device.

As previously mentioned, SecPhone is the phone part of the s3. It is needed to use the s3 as a phone.

That's useful information, I now know to leave all these alone. Thanks SUroot.
The reason I was asking about these is because I was systematically going through all the running apps, trying to find out what they do, in the hope of finding a rogue app and solving my battery drain problem. I seem to have found the answer, touch wood.
