I've had an Ipod classic but it died. Loved the simplicity but not Itunes. So I got a Zune 120GB not the HD. It is nicer than the Ipod IMO, but not really thrilled with it either. Then I saw the Archos 5 Android. But there are so many mixed reviews. Could it be from people that don't understand the Android platform?
I have a Moto Droid which I absolutely love but not enough memory for my songs and when listening to music in car my husband gets aggravated when I get a text or phone call, reminder, etc. So I'm really looking for something that is just a mp3 player but I am very interested in the Archos 5 because of the Android platform. And I would get the bonus of seeing some of the Android apps on a larger screen. As well as a nicer video player.
Okay, so I have heard that the hard drive ones are prone to failure just because of moving parts. Especially if I were to use it while mowing the yard. I would love to get one of the 250GB or even 500GB but afraid of it failing prematurely. So that would leave me with the 32GB flash drive Archos 5. But what a huge difference in space. Oh and I almost forgot the hard drive versions are bigger and therefore not really small enough to fit in a pocket. Correct?
Anyway, could anyone who knows more about this or hopefully even owns one can tell me what they think of their Archos as a mp3 player. Also any suggestions whether the flash drive version is better than the hard drive one. I would love more disk space if the hard drives are durable.
Thanks for your help.
