I've pressed it before, but it seems to just go to a specific video all the time.

Yes, it will randomly select videos from your Watch Later list.

It's still there.
Hit the 3-dot menu in while in your "watch later" videos. It will give you the option to remove it.

That's the repeat Playlist button... If it's off, then the Playlist will stop after all videos are played. When it's on, it will repeat...
