what exactly are these widgets?

what exactly is the purpose of this widget screen & can i delete them? i.e. the bookmark widget with the star came from an app i have since deleted but the widget stayed. i really don't see how this screen is a help but i'm still a newbie nexus 7 user.

They all look like stock google widgets which can't be deleted, sorry!

The screen is just an extension of the app drawer, instead of long pressing a homescreen, you can add widgets via the apps menu. I don't think it can be disabled unless you're using something like Apex or Nova as your default launcher.

OP, are you using a custom home launcher, or the stock one? Also, what happens when you try to set up the widget for the app you said you deleted? Error message?

Those are widgets available to install on your homescreens. Why would you want to delete them??

They are just shortcuts to applications. They do no harm and use practically no storage space.

Those are all stock widgets. The Bookmark/Bookmarks widget is for internet browser (Chrome) bookmarks.
