What happens on hard reset after 2.2 update?

My Intercept upgraded OTA fine. 2.2 working, little problems.

However, I am wondering what happens if I need to do a hard reset (Factory Reset)?

Do I keep 2.2 or will I be back to 2.1 and have to do the update again. I understand about loosing data and installed apps. Question is just what happens to the OS.

You will be back to a clean 2.2 install. The only way to get 2.1 back would be to flash it.
