What happens when you factory data reset an HTC 10 with Adoptive storage (Live)

Well you get a message saying all Photos, Videos, and Music will be deleted. This is freaking me out because I keep 40 GB of Music on the card.

Then you get a chance to restore everything which sounds good but now I'm getting a message in notifications sayin Unsupported Samsung SD card. That's pretty worrisome.

Okay now it's giving me a chance to format the card to use on this device which will format and remove all data from the card. I guess I can kiss that 40GB goodbye.

Formatted and everything is gone. Now before you get sad for me, don't. I did this because a previous data merge thing completely filled my phones memory. That problem has at least been fixed. Now all I have to do is reinstall my apps and copy oover my Music again. Well after the 22 on device apps get updated anyway.

Yeah,this adoptive storage is a two-edged sword.
Wouldn't music/pix/videos do just as well stored externally w/o the adoptive storage?
Would you then have adequate internal storage?

This is interesting. When I clicked to update those 22 on Device apps included in that list appears to be all the apps I had previously installed. You wont hear back from me for awhile I want to make sure what I think is happening is really happening. Udating 22 and installing over 50 is what I hope happens.

The restoration was chewing up my high speed data. I had to find a spot with a good Wi-Fi connection. It's still going to take awhile though.

If the goin' is that slow,I recommend placing the phone in front of a small desktop fan, keep things cooler & in-turn,should help speed things along a little bit...........
I do this when Quick Charging or app optimizing after a cache partition wipe w/all my phones....

Okay, all done. All the apps came back but music and photos and downloaded videos are gone. Frankly I'm impressed. All that without a backup. I bet if I had a backup the pictures, music, and downloaded videos would be back too.

Yes it would. But this Adoptive storage is a new thing and I really wanted to try it out. Anyway I think part of my original problem with that data merge thing was I already had music and stuff on the card before I did it. This time when I did the data megre with a freshly formatted card the Phone memory used actually decreased 2.11 GB to 14 something. I'm replacing the music now but my computer is saying it's going to take 3 hours and 45 minutes so no more about this until later this morning.
