What I learned today. (Read as: what I learned to NOT do)

I debated about where to put this. It could go in Android discussions or it could just as easily fit into the rant thread. I couldn't decide so I figured I'd stick it...... here. :D

ok, so I have the LG39c and bought the only case that's even close to fitting it.

Other than the phone being a tad slick, I really didn't see the need for a case, especially since with it on, the power and volume buttons are a PITA to work. You have to push them pretty hard and with a fingernail to get it to register. You can't simply press the buttons and have it work.

So, my wife comes up with the braniac idea of maybe putting something inside the case so it would take less pressure on the outside of the case to have the buttons work.

Now, if I would of had my full cup of coffee into me and been awake, I would have taken that suggestion in stride and gone on about my merry way. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I have to listen to her for a change.

So I go and get some double sided tape kind of thing that's about 1/8" thick or so and put a piece inside the case on each side. Well apparently when I put the case on that was enough to hold both the power and volume buttons pressed in. The phone started to boot and then this green android bug kind of thingie shows up. I said to myself, "self, I don't remember ever seeing that before....". Imagine my surprise when my phone started prompting me with the same questions that it did when I bought it and took it out of the box! Who knew that was a recipe for a factory reset? (well, you probably did, but I certainly didn't)

Well, I now have the phone back to the point where texting is working the way I want it (at least I think so) and the wife has mysteriously disappeared to her jewelry studio to work on some new custom pieces she's making for a girls wedding party. I don't know why but she suddenly didn't wanna be upstairs for some reason. It may have had something to do with the interesting language choices being made by her husband, but I can't confirm that.

Sorry about the length of the rant but to channel Night Courts Judge Stones Father: I'm feeling MUCH better now. :D

Uh-oh. :(

Well, yeah. Press and hold buttons to boot into recovery mode. press volume buttons to select option and power to confirm. With that tape in the case, your buttons were ... um .. pre-pressed. Lesson learned.

The more important issue here is how can you leverage that little suggestion into a free pass the next time you screw up? (and you know that husband is synonymous with screw-up.)

First, repeat after me ... "It's okay sweetheart, I've *almost* got it back to where I had it before." Then put the phone down on the table near her and glare at the phone.

Ooooh, ooooh ... or you could "claim" it'n now not the same and see if you can get a Nexus 5 or Moto X outta the deal. ;) :D

Naw, it ain't the end of the Earth. There were a few things I wanted to clean up anyhow, now they will be. ;-)

She's not in too much trouble, I'm still makin' her dinner. ;) (I'm the cook, she's the bottle washer)

Where in PA? I'm originally from Meadville. In-between Erie and Pitts.

The other side of the Alleghenies, near Philly. You know ... Eagles/Phillies/Flyers country. In other words ... um ... sorry, can't use *those* words here. ;)
