You're probably looking at your Android Phone wondering, "What is this icon in the top left?" It's one of the most popular questions asked on Android Forums so we decided to create a place where you can identify exactly what app is sending the notification icon that's got you wondering.

Most people ask this question because they've seen the app icon on their boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, or significant other's phone and they suspect it's an icon from a dating app. They're worried about infidelity. They've captured a screenshot or taken a photo but since it's not their phone they can't perform followup steps to figure out what the icon is.

Not everybody asks this question because they suspect cheating. Sometimes people ask this question because the notification is annoying, persistent, or won't go away. Regardless of why you're trying to match the icon with the app- we're here to help!

Below is a list of icons from notifications posted by our users:
  • We have solved as many as we can- help us solve more!
  • Reply with the answer to any missing matches if you know them
  • Post your own screenshot as a reply if you're trying to find a match
  • And if you solve the problem on your own, come back and help others by sharing what you learned

Many of our users feel guilty for asking this question in the first place. You shouldn't feel guilty and you're not alone- we have people ask us this question every single day and we're sure that thousands of others hold their question in the silence of their hearts. Regardless of the outcome here, please consider having a serious conversation with your significant other to make sure you're involved in an honest and healthy relationship. It's not a fun or easy conversation to have but typically those types of conversations are the most important ones to start.

We will try to keep this resource updates as often as possible!

I'm not sure how you want this to work. I'll post and take it from there!

Here's one I solved, involving this white heart icon on a red background, and "D-DAY" in white text:

It's from an app named...D-Day! :D

Someone said on another thread that it's the facebook dating app but I wanna be sure

I didn't even know Facebook had a dating app, but what I can find, it doesn't look like there are any notifications outside of the app beyond a regular Facebook icon. Personally, I would look at the heart with a check mark as the notification that some sort of fitness goal was achieved.

It seems that there is a facebook dating platform, though I can't find any evidence of it having a separate app (admittedly I spent less than a minute looking, but if that's not long enough they aren't serious about it).

Apparently it's a contact tracing app in India called Aarogya Setu

Could someone tell me what this notification is? My partner and I have had some problems, have caught her in a few lies so would like to know before I question her about it. Thank you

As answered in another thread, it's Castbox, a popular podcast app.

And as also said in that other thread, I can't see anything in that icon design that would look worrying, and I can't help feeling that if you react like this to every app you don't recognise then you are going to make life miserable for both of you.

Does no one have any idea what app this is? Is it a training app or dating?
You didn't give people very long, given that there are hundreds of thousands of apps and hence nobody will know more than a fraction of them.

It struck me as vaguely familiar, which makes it less likely to be a dating app (I've never gone near one of those), but it's not something I've ever installed, so I didn't reply because I couldn't identify it. You'll probably have toask him/her if you are that concerned.

Does anyone know what app these sideways heart icons are for?

You guys are getting me into trouble. My wife is starting to question my motives in looking at all these dating apps on the Play store. :o I can tell you that it doesn't match any of the most (top 150 or so) popular dating apps available through the Play store. I see the sideways heart, but it also looks rather bee-like.

Coincidentally, someone else asked what that icon was in this thread. Nobody knew there, either. Sorry.

There isn't a time limit on it guys and I do appreciate your help, but I've no idea and asking is going to cause a huge argument about trust that I can do without during Covid while we're stuck in different countries waiting for flights to reunite.
Believe me I am erring on the side of a health app as my hubby does go to the gym, but seeing a heart is a bit of a kick in the guts, tell me honestly, would you not all wonder about this?
Any help is truly appreciated, thanks.

I wonder if that person ever did get to the bottom of it outside of this thread?

I guess that depends on the state of the relationship. But let's work on the helpful part before we all turn into marriage counselors. As was pointed out earlier, the best way to find out is to simply ask. Now, there's asking and there's accusing. Personally if I saw that icon on my wife's phone and i suspected something was going on, i would innocently ask "Hey, what's the bumble bee icon on your phone?" rather than "You cheating b@$tr@rd .... I see that dating app bull$h!t on your screen." I'm assuming he sent you the screenshot, because if you had physical access to the phone all you do is pull down the notification, long-press it and it will tell you what app is generating that notification.

Trying to identify an app from an icon is very difficult, unless it's an incredibly popular app.

I wonder if that person ever did get to the bottom of it outside of this thread?

Hard to say. Unfortunately many people are only here for answers and once they get the one they are looking for, they never come back. If they found it elsewhere, it would have been helpful to come back here and let us know, but most people aren't wired that way.
