What is an early upgrade even worth now???

Alright so im grandfathered in to the early upgrade thing but whenever I talk to a Vzw rep they seem to make it sound like it is worthless. I get the feeling they are telling me that because who ever is above them is pressuring customers not to use it.

The way I understood the upgrade was like this:

buy just a phone: Pay full retail.

Buy the phone with a 2 year plan: pay the sibsidized price of around $200-$300

Early upgrade: $50 rebate off of subsidized price

Full upgrade: $100 rebate

Verizon wireless reps are trying to tell me that early upgrade gets u the subsidized prices, and full upgrade gets you a 100 off. And that if you dont qualify for an upgrade, they don't care if you sign a new two year contract, you pay full retail anyway.

Are they just jocking my chain here???

That's the way it used to run. However, my understanding is they've gone to upgrades at the subsidized price only once every two years.

The actual process with any Early/Annual Upgrades if you last upgrade was done before the changes (can't think of the exact date) If you're paying over $44.99 on the calling plan charge itself you can do one final Early/Annual Upgrade with a $20 fee or if you do it online via Verizonwireless.com the 2 year pricing of the equipment after 12 months since your last upgrade. If you want till the 20 month time you get your final New Every 2 credit off the 2 year pricing. And then going forward you have to wait 20 months and it will be the 2 year pricing and any mail in rebate or instant discounts. I would recommend unless you need a phone waiting till the 20 month time frame and use the New Every 2 because if you do the Early/Annual upgrade you lose the New Every 2 and then it's 20 months.
