What is Android App and what is APK file?

Friends could you please tell me what is Android App and what is APK file?

i am confused b/w these two.

I'm not very technical (and may be wrong), but here goes:

App
Apk

Android apps are generally bundled in to apk's - apk's are basically a compressed file.

I'm going to give you basic explanation of the two: Android app is an application/feature that we installed on our device to do things with. An APK is a file that allows you to download/installed an application to the device.
