What is Device Protection Manager? Draining battery.

I'm at the end of my rope - Google is no help. I've been having battery issues with my S7 and went in today to clear some stuff out. Deleted a few things and then checked again and this app showed up - Device Protection Manager, which looks totally different from the Android Protection Manager Google uses. Can't disable it, just force stop. It's not listed in my app manager list either. Help! The icon next to it is blue with a shield logo on it. Right now it's sucking 69% of my battery! I have a photo, but my work computer won't allow me to host it, so apologies there.

Suggestions to get rid of this thing? I've got developer access and nothing I've tried there has worked.

Take a look at settings>Smart Manager. There's something there with a blue shield logo. If it's the same it could be that it's an inbuilt feature to the firmware, explaining why it can't be removed. Try to do a syste. cache wipe to fix things.

Turn phone off, then press volume up and home while powering up. Do not let go of the buttons until you see the spinning Android blue screen. You may be presented with a dead Android screen for a minute but don't mind it. Then you will see the recovery menu. Use the volume buttons to navigate and select 'cache wipe'. Be careful in this as it's right next to 'factory wipe'. Then once highlighted, press the power button to select, and confirm the action. Once done, select power off the phone, then turn it on again.
