what is FM2@d74435c4053d?

VicBee

Lurker
A device named FM2@d74435c4053d is constantly asking to pair with my phone. When I allow it, it shows as paired but very quickly shows as unpaired and continuously asks to pair. There is no way that I know of to delete that device from the phone. The only options are unpair or rename. At least if I knew what it is I could try to shut down Bluetooth from that end... Any suggestion other than shutting down Bluetooth which I use for other devices? Thanks.

Well the "d74435c4053d" is the right length to be the MAC address of the device. So if you can look up the BT MAC addresses of your various devices that would identify it. Otherwise "FM2" is your only clue as to what it might be (that and that it was made by an idiot, both because of the incessant connection requests and because it broadcasts its MAC address).

Otherwise you could try turning off each BT-capable device you own in turn and seeing when it stops.

An annoying possibility would be if it turns out to be your neighbour's device. Modern phones have better BT range than the old ones, and certainly I can see some of my neighbours' devices from parts of my house, as well as connect to my own devices from further away than my old phone could.
