What is Live Wallpapers

I've been reading a lot about live wallpapers. Would somebody mind explaining what this is and why it is so coveted?

You obviously haven't been reading THAT much about them. They are wallpapers that move. Like, imagine a gif file...Imagine screen saver...but behind all your apps.

I assume I don't need to tell you why they are coveted...if I do...it's because it's freakin' cool.

They are not your usual wallpapers. The thing about live wallpapers is they usually move and that makes them a lot more interesting.
