What is My phone downloading!!

I have had my Samsung 15800 for a couple of months now and never use the data connection outside my own wifi zone. I'm on PAYG, so any additional data costs me extra. But each month I'm seeing a huge amount of data cost, I just work it out, either I get this sorted or I go back to old bog standard phone

Are you turning your 3g off and your wifi on? Also setting your FB, twitter all that stuff to manual will cut down on how often they update.

When you say you never use "the data connection outside my own wifi zone" what exactly do you mean by that?

Wifi doesn't involve the data connection at all. In settings, as windcalmer says, you have to ensure that "mobile network" is ticked as "off" and that "use mobile connection when wifi not available" is also off.... so that your only access to the internet is via wifi.

To be more sure you can also disable in settings background synchronization.
