What is needed to use Droid as a network gateway for a PC?

I'm sure this has been asked a zillion times, but is there any specific items that can allow a PC to access the internet using a plain old school Droid and the USB connector? I'm not up to speed on any of the different methods and their names, but I simply need a connection to the internet using the 3G capabilities of the Droid without having to use a wireless modem/data package.
Any and all help is appreciated...please don't flame me too hard for asking repetitive questions. I'm just looking for something as close to plug n play as I can find as I hate to add drivers and alter code. Thanks again!!

the only method I know of without rooting your Droid is PDAnet. (Google search PDAnet and you will find their website which has a silly name).

The free version allows you to use your 3g connection to connect your PC to the internet through your USB cable except for HTTPS sites as I recall. It is fairly simple to do. You have to download a program on the target PC and download an App for your Droid.

Rooting the Droid is fairly easy too and that gives you several options. My rooted Droid can provide internet wirelessly to multiple devices just like a wireless router.

Cheers and good luck
