What is the best Android device

Right now, I'd say the Samsung Vibrant (t mobile), or any of the other soon to be released Galaxy S phones. Best screen, fastest processor, etc, etc. The other competitors right now are the Evo 4g (sprint) and the Droid X (verizon), but both of those are running the snapdragon processor which is slower than the hummingbird which is what is in the galaxy s phones.
The best phone is the one that is the best for you. How's that for a non-answer? heh
The top two phones at this very moment are the Droid X and the Droid Incredible. The Droid X has a bigger screen, and a custom UI from Motorola. The Incredible has a 3.7" screen (which I prefer), and HTC's Sense UI.
Go play with them both and see which you prefer.

Im not sure when it is coming out, but there is a galaxy s phone coming out for verizon in the near future. i would suggest getting that..
My vote is for Nexus One, still. Stock Android, quickest updates, best form factor, feels good in the hand, etc.

no, the Droid X is not a snapdragon. Its cpu is competitive with the galaxy but galaxy's gpu is much better.
Yes the Galaxy's GPU is very fast. But won't be on Verizon for months. Also the AMOLED is iffy, some people love it, some people don't. For me AMOLEDs look sort of "fuzzy" and over saturated. But some people love the contrast and color. You really should compare the two, which isn't possible until both are on verizon.
If you need a phone now, get the Droid X. Only get the Incredible if you think the Droid X is two big. The Droid X's CPU is a little faster than the snapdragon (but slower than n1 on 2.2 but X should get 2.2 by end of summer), but the Droid X's GPU is leagues better than the N1 and EVO. Not as good as the Galaxy but up there with the iPhone 4.
If you don't mind not having custom ROMs the Droid X is the best choice on Verizon. Faster and better screen than incredible. The incredible is more portable but thats almost offset by the poor battery life.
But go to a corporate Verizon store (that has the display phones actually running) and try them out, or use a friends. See if you can handle the size of the X, if you can't the incredible is a very good phone too.
Whatever you do don't get the original Droid or Droid eris, the incredible is much better. You can't go wrong with either the Droid X or HTC Incredible

If you're on Verizon and intend on texting a lot and downloading apps, then I'd say the Galaxy S for Verizon, the Droid/Milestone, or any other Android device with a physical QWERTY. If you're new to typing on a touchscreen, it will take a bit to get used to, but after that, you're set. So, if you're willing to take two weeks or so to learn a new keyboard, then the Droid X or Droid 2 would also be good contenders. I'm on Sprint, so I don't know THAT much about Verizon phones, but I'm a tech news junkie, and I try to keep up to date on as much as I can.
I'd agree that it does take some time getting used to a touchscreen keyboard, however with swype (or similar) keyboard you can type much better than you ever could on a physical keyboard, especially the Original Droid's. The large screen on the Droid X also makes it much easier. But there is a learning curve, maybe a couple weeks if your used to something like an env3.
The physical keyboard is more useful for just freeing up screen space, or for buttons on games, like GBA/SNES emulators.

I'd have to agree with these folks. The best phone really depends on what YOU want. VZW has some WONDERFUL Android phones, but it all comes down to a few things that you really need to think about:
- Physical Keyboard vs Software Keyboard - If you prefer a physical keyboard there are certain phones you can eliminate (such as the Incredible, Droid X). However, if you've used and/or willing to learn how to use a software keyboard, that opens up more possibilities. Software Keyboards
Yeah, it's called the samsung fascinate for verizon but it will not have the front facing camera. The new line of samsung phones are the only phones(other than the nexus one) that I would prefer over my droid inc. Sprint got the contract for the only U.S. version of the galaxy s that retains the front facing camera, but it also will add a slide-out keyboard which is pointless on even the 3.7" screens and will only add bulk. I feel like the 4" screen will be the sweet spot between the 3.7" screens and the 4.3" screens. Lastly the hummingbird processor is way faster than the ti omap processor and the snapdragon processor.

I don't think that there is going to be an answer for this one - it is subjective.
Specs wise, I'd say the Samsung Galaxy Epic, with its Super Amoled and Hummingbird. That it has 4G and a keyboard is pretty sweet too. Not too sure about battery life though.
What I'd really love to see is a Google Nexus Two right now.
