What is the best *FREE* VOIP application?

Hey folks, new Android user here (new HTC Legend owner) and was looking for a worthwhile app to use for VOIP dialing, when I'm in within range of the internet. So I don't have to use my mobile minutes.

On my old Nokia E71 I used something called 'Fring' but surely Android has some apps that are much better than that.

Not interested in paid apps either, I've already spent a fortune this week.

I already have my own VOIP account with a provider and the needed info, so I just need the interface or whatever

Thanks in advance for any help or reccomendations!

cheers

So far the best I have found is SIPDROID and I have been through them all as I NEED to call home cheap! I work in Vietnam and with Sipdroid connected to gizmo5 over WiFi I am calling the USA for 1 cents a minute. Best rate I have found. BUT Gizmo5 has been bought out by Google so I think in the future they will have their own program/softphone for Android alas with adverts I would guess...

Since Fring no longer has Skype I use Nimbuzz though. It's fairely useless though tbh - it's pretty stable, but whereas I used to get a warm feeling about fring as my phone would blurt out at the same time as Skype on my PC, I have barely heard a peep out of Nimbuzz - it appears to miss tonnes of calls.

This is a real gap in the market.
