Help What is the easiest way to unlock phone?

UP2NoGooDJ

Newbie
I finally got this beauty in the mail today. So far still setting this up and trying to figure out how to unlock this the best way. I have just about everything setup finger scanned, retina unlock, and pin. But, what I am having issue is I have to double tap home each time I pick up the phone. Is there a way to bypass that? For example I just want to pick up the phone use my eyes or finger scan and have it open right away. I want to avoid that double tap home. Can this be done?

Thank you in advance.

That annoys me too but so far I haven't found a workaround for it. We have some smart cookies in this forum though so maybe one of them will make us both happy.

I'll keep digging too hopefully I find a answer. But, yes if this forum can't figure it out we're in trouble haha

I don't have to do anything except use either index finger. It turns right on with no fuss. I'm surprised because no one likes the sensor placement but I personally find this the fastest...for me. I don't understand why the home button is needed. Put a finger on the sensor and I'm there.

Okay you're right rookie mistake ! I think I was to drawn on to using iris scan as feature. Can the same be done with iris or is this finger scan only that unlocks right away?

I wear bifocals and can't use the iris scanner, but fingerprint scanner is much more reliable than on my S8 and a hard press on the home key is also easy.

I have to turn the phone over to find the fingerprint scanner every time but it never fails. I actually prefer facial recognition because I can leave my glasses on for that and I don't have any problems so far there either. Iris scanner is my preference for samsung pay even though I have to lift my glasses for a second to get it to work.

My iris scanner works very quickly every time, with glasses, without glasses, with my prescription polarized sun glasses, daytime, nightime..most of the time it's so quick that it doesn't even show the visual iris scan and just opens right up. LOVE THAT!

Thank you in advance.

I power off my phone at night so each morning I enter a pin. During the day, all I have to do is touch the fingerprint sensor. I tried the voice recognition business but every male who said, "Okay, Google" got past the PIN screen. Now I rely on the fingerprint.

I wear glasses, so I don't have a lot of luck with iris scanner. I use facial recognition and it's blazing fast. For times when I'm up and it's still dark (which is often), I find the fingerprint scanner is not that bad.

interesting, i wear glasses too. i have two sets. the iris scanner is so fast i dont even see my eyeballs on the screen.. :D

ill have to check out the face thingy too...

Yep. I tried the iris scanner again today when you mentioned that it worked for you with your glasses but I have AR for computers in mine so they have a blue tint over them in most light and the scanner doesn't see through that. Back to facial recognition. It works great even in low light for me so I am pleased.

I have a set of spectacles that have the blue filter tech in them (lens crafters). Again no issues.

I didnt even setup iris scan with glasses since the instructions stated not to, however with 2 pair of glasses, its been able to work just fine.

If you set up your irises in bright light or if you were backlit with a lamp in the background, etc, this can cause issues.

Nevertheless, pleased that facial ID works just fine. I still haven't set it up yet since iris works like a boss but its on my to do list.. :)

Which performs better the Iris or Face security login, if one wears eyeglasses during daytime?
Then at night at bedtime, I take them off to use phone.
Do you set up Face ID with eyeglass on or off?
Do you set up Iris ID with eyeglass on or off?

depends on your environment, face, eyes, etc. some people the face works, others the iris works better.

for me. iris works 100% spot on and super fast. ive not yet set up the face...

You don't need to double tap with fingerprint. I don't know about anything else.
