What is wrong with the Note7 gps???

I have tested the gps altimeter function by climbing stairs and carrying the following devices:
1. Garmin 60csx
2. iPhone 6s
3. Samsung Galaxy Note 3
4. Samsung Galaxy Note 7
5. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

Results of Garmin and iPhone were accurate, Note 3 acceptable, however Note 7 was far from real values. Has anyone experienced the same? Or do I have a defective device?

But check this new comparison!
I did it yesterday. Note7 with SHealth is perfect, but with endomondo is very inaccurate. I used both app at the same time. My TabS2 Lte with endomono is quite good.

I've found the N7 GPS location is accurate for turn-by-turn navigation, locating for booking taxis, and location data for pictures.

This is all spot on....

My Note 7 has the quickest, most accurate GPS in any phone I have ever had. Makes my Note 4 seem extremely slow - which it was slow to get a lock on satellites upon first firing up the GPS. After that my N4 was fine though. Anyway, I would be looking to return for a different N7, that can't be normal to have the GPS/location working that poorly.

Seems as though everyone is focusing on horizontal (well, latitude/longitude) coordinates here; the OP isn't getting correct altimeter readings (also derived from the GPS).

I've witnessed the same with mine. My readings, however, are consistent in their lack of accuracy, suggesting that the issue is likely that there's no compensation for the WGS84 reference ellipsoid.

Some software will also use the lat/lon values to query geoid services that provide a reasonably accurate satellite-radar mapped altitude for ground level. Standalone GPS units may include altitude data in their on-board map databases. None of this does much for you if you're in an aircraft, though.
