What next after the HTC One X

My 2 year contract is nearly up. So it that time when I start looking at what will replace my One X.

I have a couple of phones in mind. I still have some research to do into battery life and reliability.

What will you change to when your contract is up?

I was on an 18 month contract and I could upgrade in September, I picked up the Z1.

Pretty impressed so far, it has a few "flaws", but Sony have been pretty forthcoming with software updates and the most recent fixes 2 of my issues apparently so I'll be looking forward to updating to that. :)

Sony's skin isn't too bogged down and is relatively close to stock Android.

Was toying with the Note 3, but this felt a much better choice.

My contract with Orange finished recently, so I moved to Giffgaff keeping my HOX until the Nexus 5 is released, (hopefully 18 Oct announcement), which I will then purchase outright and sell HOX.

So from

Mines not up till next July but currently the Xperia Z1 or the HTC One were the top runners for me.

Just read an article about the HTC One Max coming later this month though,
Ignoring the fact that they have shamefully put a fingerprint scanner on the back ,
it looks like they have finally taken hold of some of users comments as it has both a removable back and a micro SD card slot!! :D

Could be a contender around the time my contract comes up.

Contract is not due until March, but i am keeping a close eye on the Nexus 5.
All leaked report look good, but won't know for certain until it is released.

Screen on time is brilliant. At full brightness, watching a 40 min, converted TV show, you lose about 6-7%.

Idle, it's not as good (but not terrible) and a recent firmware update has improved things, but it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

2 days with medium use is easily doable. Other folks milage may vary though.

Have to say the Sony Z1 is looking like the one for me, however the nexus 5 is also tempting. One thing is for certain I will not be getting a HTC again..

If it hadn't been for the camera with ultra pixels i would have seriously considered the Htc One. Keeping an eye on what Motorola is doing too, (think there could be a real surprise coming up soon).

How so?

I'm fairly taken with the Z1 - it does have some problems, but I doubt you'll ever find a phone that's perfect.

Like the look of the Z1 have done research and know of one or two glitches so to speak.. had no end of problems with my one x since update to 4.2 the main one being can't get WiFi unless I'm sat on top of the router.. also HTC's lack of support for older models the s2 is still receiving updates from Samsung, I just think it's a poor show from HTC.

Yeah, the lack of updates is a poor show, especially when you know the phone is more than capable of running it.

Sony have at least confirmed 4.3 & 4.4 for the Z range anyway, when we see it though....

Still they have confirmed it so that's at least another year or so of updates for the z range. The one x as you said is more than capable of running both 4.3 + 4.4 but HTC can't be bothered to support the older phones...

After the HTC Desire and HOX think its a move to Samsung for me and the G5.

ive had the desire, sensation xe, ONE X, each time toyed with the idea of samsung, sony, etc.. each time glad i didnt, especially now i have the ONE.. it is mind blowingly good.. it makes the ONE X seem pedestrian.. my mothers got one, each time i have a go on it im surprised how cluncky it feels.... the ONE is simply stunning... no one will be dissappointed with it..... the screen is beautiful.. ignore htc wallpapers, they are rubbish....and dont show the screen of anywhere near its full potential... .

My contract isn't up till May. I might think about going back to motorola if they pump out a new flagship around then. I still remember how good my old RAZR was.

If my phone bites the dust before then (looking likely tbh) I might consider a nexus 5 if AT&T won't let me upgrade early.

I keep hoping motorola will bring out a high spec flagship phone.
Still got & using an old V3i that's 10 years old & the battery still lasts 10 days per charge.
