What ! No USB audio out ?

I have a Asus HD 7 tablet with an OTG cable and got it to recognise a USB DAC but only with rooting it and using a proprietary audio app. Will USB audio devices such as DAC's be supported in future updates ? The hardware does so why limit a function that would make everybody with a USB DAC happy ?

I'm pretty sure the G1 could have handled your DAC. The headphone jack was non-existent and you needed a special USB cable to hook up your headphones. IIRC there was a rather large uproar about that and I haven't seen a Android device that used that form of audio out since.
 
Hmm... don't know about the G1... pretty strange to leave out the headphone jack.. as strange as leaving out USB audio which IS supported by the hardware and would turn any recent Android tablet into a great and cheap music controller
