What refurb phone shoul I try to get from Verizon?

My rooted Droid1 seems to have a damaged screen. The corner by the 'Back' button seems to get stuck and phone function is severely diminished.

So, since I have insurance on the phone, I can probably get Verizon to swap it out for a 'Certified' refurb.

Which phone should I try to get? Who knows what the current offerings are?

I'll probably want to root it...

My contract is up in a few months and I've seriously considered changing providers. I'm in Houston, if that matters.

TIA,

If you're re-upping your contract, you're probably just as well off getting a new phone on contract. Any refurbs should work fine, but won't save you that much money. Check for deals on Wirefly, Amazon, and such when you're lookig to re-up also. Depending on the phone and the timing, you could get a better deal than you could from Verizon on a new one.

I guess my real question, is do I want something besides a Droid1?

And if so, which phone from Verizon should I get as a refurb?

Or, which phone should I get as a new one for re-upping my contract?

That's 3 question...oh well...

well "insurance" is done through asurion and NOT Verizon so its completely different. for a new phone, if you don't NEED 4G i would go with a DINC2, you cant root GB yet but id bet it'll be coming soon. Or SGS2 aka Samsung GalaxyS 2

Or wait til the end of the year and see if you can get whats coming with Ice Cream Sandwich!

1. If you can get something else, newer, without extending your contract then I would certainly leave the Droid 1, it gives you a few months to enjoy a newer style phone and see what is coming before X-mas.

2. You may be offered a different phone by Asurion, if they offer you the Incredible 2, take it!

3. If you are going to extend your contract, make sure you get a NEW phone, and that is tough because there are a bunch of phones coming out in about 3 weeks. Go to a store and play with them, see what you like.
