What Size Is Your Nandriod Backup

The nandroid backup tells us nothing. It includes the system partition (rom).

Even just the data.img or .tar (which would be more realistic) wont help too much due to compression methods.

That said my data.tar is 1.14 GB

ok, when i save mine (the clockwork mod backup) to pc it says what size it is.

That's not what I meant by "tells us nothing". Yes we can see the size the backup folder is on the pc. We can see that in any file explorer. My point is that backup includes the rom, anything stored in cache AND the data partition (where apps are stored). This means it doesn't tell us "how much is on phone"

To get a more accurate idea, you need to look just at the part of the backup for data (data.img or data.tar) however even that is flawed for the following reasons

1) data includes settings too
2) apps are different size
3) different versions of cwm on different phones compress the backup differently meaning 2 backups of the same size (before back up) could be completely different sizes.

I'm just saying if you hope to use this as a measure of how much people have on their phone, its not going to do that.

My data partition compresses to 1.14GB
My entire backup compresses to 2.11GB

That relates in no way to what is on my phone. If you're interested, I have 106 apps on my phone

On my htc desire, I had 120 apps and my data.img was 300MB
