What (TF) does this TaskBar Icon Mean?

So, I've been playing about with Android 2.1 since I updated to it recently and so far, all is good.

But today, a NEW TaskBar Icon, one I'd never seen before, just appeared!

WTF?

Was it a fault? a new Feature? a bug? I had no idea.

So, just to show it who was boss, I powered off my phone, and gave it a firm stare. But after powering it on again, there it was. That pesky new TaskBar Icon. What did it want from me?
Money, blood, my first born child?

I had no idea.

As last resort, I decided to RTFM.

That's right. I had to admit defeat, ensure no one could see me, (especially the wife), and resort to reading the phone's manual. And what did it tell me? Diddley squat, that's what it told me. A stupid pull-out pamphlet with fancy 3D drawings and short paragraphs, that in effect told me nothing a 3 yr old couldn't figure out.

I then resorted to checking my phones various settings from all the menu's I could find, but I still couldn't see what it was.

So in desperation, I swapped out the battery, pulled out the SIM and made them sit in the corner for 5 minutes just for being bad. But it was all to no avail.

I still couldn't get rid of this pesky, strange and mysterious TaskBar icon.

Short of doing a Factory Reset and throwing my phone in the fire, I decided to do a google search.

And found this..

Android Icon PDF Guide

All my prayers were answered. My bacon had been saved, (or broccoli, if your a vegetarian.)

(OK, so I had missed out that I had turned my ringer volume all the way down to zero, and the icon was trying to tell me my phone was set to Vibrate Only.)

So, by way of helping other users that may wish to know what all those TaskBar Icons might mean.

I hope the above PDF link helps.

The annoying thing here is, I recently saw an icon on my phone that I'd been wondering what it did... and that icon isn't on there XD

It was like one of those little orange triangles people put on the road. It was there in place of my signal strength bars, my best guess was that it meant I didn't have a good signal, and could only make calls in the event of needing to make an emergency call?

My guess it points to a problem with your SIM card not being unlocked (if you have any). Your phone is not accepted on the network for some reason.

I use a Droid though, on Verizon's CDMA. No SIM card, does it even have the ability to pick up the network?
