What the heck are these? What is that and what is it for?

Why do people use them as avatars?

It is called a barcode. You can d/l the barcode scanner from the market and scan one, it'll take you to the specified link associated with the barcode
on your phone..

Ya just scan it with the scanner app or google goggles. When people use them as thier avatar it usually linked to their profile page or their facebook page.

Due to this thread I have found out I'm a geek! WTF?

When did this happen? Wait... I fly kites, have limited friends and rooted my phone as soon as I could... Oh crap :( I'm a geek!

Loved the moment I created a QR code for my website :)Now I hate it as I really am a geek :(

So out of curiosity, where did you get this one^ just wondering cause it seems to link to someone's contact info, hopefully its fake cause there is cell # work # home address, whole 9 yards?

some people will scan anything.... what you expect to find the next monster app at the end of that one?
 
contact is some check, i done friended her on facebook, chatting w/ her now:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Seriously though, figured if OP didn't know what they were then where did he get it from? I have seen weirder things in my time. Also yall know you scanned it as well... just to see:p
