What to do in San Fran for a morning?

I'm in San Fran for a cousin's wedding this Sunday. The wedding is at 1500. I'm thinking of wandering around the Wharf afterwards in the evening. What is there to do in San Fran for just the morning?

Background - My grandparents have lived there for the past 15-20 years or so and I've been there many times. I've seen the Wharf, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, cable car ride, cable car museum, fort under the Golden Gate Bridge and a lot of other stuff that doesn't jump to mind immediately. Looking for something I've not seen before. I was going to go on a ballpark tour of ATT park, but the tour starts at 1230 and lasts for an hour and a half. I don't see any way I could go and make it to the wedding on time.

Are you interested more in touristy type things and sightseeing or food/culture?

Lombard St/Coit Tower/Ghiradelli Square is nice to look around/take pictures.

Union Square has tons of great restaurants and shopping.

Twin Peaks has tremendous views.

Ferry Building is a terrific spot to take in the scene. They have shops/restaurants inside as well. You can walk along the Embarcadero and see Alcatraz/Bay Bridge/Golden Gate Bridge from afar.

Edit: Haight/Ashbury if you want to see something different - a staple of SF culture. Fun little shops and food places there. Same with Chinatown - good for souvenirs/food.

Honestly, I'm probably more interested in touristy stuff since I'll only be there for a day. Shopping doesn't appeal to me unless it's something unique that you can't find elsewhere. For example, when I was in Chicago I went to the miracle mile because they had a Lego store and a Hershey store. Neither of those can be found here in town. I'm the type that really enjoys museum type places. Shopping appeals to me only if the shops are unique. The same old department stores and chains that I can find anywhere else do nothing for me.

I'm actually there two days, but Saturday is shot as I've already bought a ticket to the Monterrey Aquarium. I go there every time I'm in town and absolutely love it. I can spend all day there. Saturday evening is probably dinner with the family. Sunday afternoon I'm at the wedding, Sunday evening I'm at the Wharf so Sunday morning is about all I've got.

The Aquarium is awesome. I so badly wish I could get 5-10 people together to do one of their sleepovers. Yes, I am really just a 5 year old and I think wandering the Aquarium at night after closing would be the greatest.

I will say the same thing I say to everyone I know when they come to SF. Got to Ike's Place and order The Kryptonite Ike's Place

There is the Steins collection at the MOMA and that could be pretty interesting if that's your cup of tea.http://ilikeikesplace.com/menu

Ike's Place is awesome.

The DeYoung Museum, California Academy of Science, and SFMOMA would be ones I'd throw in, in addition to what I posted earlier, if museums are your thing. Theres also a bunch of random art galleries downtown if you like that.

rent bike and ride over bridge to saulsalito. That could be something to do. Get your blood pumping to start the day. Although it will be foggy as heck in the morning. It might not be that enjoyable. Summer in SF kinda suck. The best time to visit is spring and fall. Oh yeah, bring a jacket, cause it's cool.

I was browsing tourism sites and saw a Computer History Museum that's 20 min from my hotel (per Google Maps) and also about 20 mins from the wedding site. Is that museum worth seeing? Also, how accurate are Google Maps drive times in the SF area?

It looks like I'm going to be in the Redwood City/Menlo Park area if that means anything to anyone.

Have you been to Golden Gate Park.? A lot of attractions to see there. You have the academy of science, japanese tea garden and the conservatory of flowers.

Do they really put Cheesesticks on their sandwiches? That can't be healthy.

Edit: Just looked at their hours and saw they're closed on Sunday so that is out of the question sadly. The Lex Luthor looked appealing too.

I have never been, but I've heard good things about the computer museum. South Bay traffic is generally good except for rush hour. The 101 gets really bad around Palo Alto area. I would stay away from it during rush hour times.

Yes, they do and it's probably not too healthy. But, you can get away with doing it once. Sadly though you'll miss out.

The computer museum is pretty interesting if it's you thing. I haven't been, but I saw a video of part of it and it was really cool. I will go someday.

Drive times in the city are almost never accurate lol. Traffic traffic, and well, more traffic. Plus MUNI and bike riders. Its a PITA to drive in the city so always expect a tad bit longer drive time.

It says they close at 7 which seems really early to me. Even on the off chance I can bail on family for dinner, I can't see myself getting back from Monterrey Bay and into town by 7. If they were open 'til 8 or 9 I could make it. Those sandwiches look really, really good.

I'm a computer nerd and I like history so the museum is appealing to me. I don't know if it's a 1-2 hour thing or a 4-5 hour thing though.

How inaccurate are they? If it says 20 mins, should I budget 40 mins or an hour? Or more?

Well, not double the time, but I'd say allow yourself an additional 5-10 min window for traffic; although Sunday shouldn't be too bad so I'd say more towards the 5 min
